The AeroPress is a little powerhouse — compact, quick, and capable of brewing a truly delicious cup. Using gentle pressure, it extracts bold, smooth flavours with minimal fuss. You can brew with espresso or filter roasts, but for this recipe, we recommend sticking to a filter roast for the best balance.
You’ll Need:
- AeroPress or AeroPress Go
- AeroPress micro filter papers (or Fellow Prismo)
- Coffee grinder
- Coffee scales
- Kettle
You’ll Use:
- 12g coffee (medium grind — like caster sugar)
- 200ml hot water
- Water temp: 93–96°C (heat to 97°C before brewing)
- Milk (optional): heat to 55–65°C
How to Brew
- Prep: Add a paper filter to the cap and rinse it well with hot water.
Heat your brewing water to 97°C. - Set up: Place your AeroPress in the inverted position (cap facing up).
- Add coffee: Grind 12g of coffee (medium grind) and pour it into the chamber. Gently shake to level.
- Add water: Place the AeroPress on your scales, tare to zero, start your timer, and pour in 200g of hot water in slow circles.
- Stir: Give it five quick stirs to mix everything, then screw the cap (with the rinsed filter) onto the top.
- Brew: At 1:45 carefully flip the AeroPress onto your cup or server.
- Press: At 2:00, press down slowly and firmly — aim for a steady 20–30 second press, stopping when you hear the “hiss.”
- Enjoy: You should have a rich, clean cup by around 2:20–2:30. Swirl, sip, and smile.
Pro Tips:
- If it’s hard to press, grind a little coarser.
- If it’s too easy or watery, grind a bit finer.
